The energy transition is built on strategic partnerships like this: ?LG Chem?just signed a memorandum of understanding to potentially buy up to 100,000 metric tons of our Mobil Lithium product offering. The lithium, to be supplied from our project site in North America, will be delivered to LG Chem's cathode plant in Clarksville, Tennessee – set to become the largest of its kind in the U.S. (Cathodes are key components in every electric vehicle battery.) ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions President Dan Ammann says that “America needs secure domestic supply of critical minerals like lithium. ???We were proud to show our dedication to growing Africa’s energy industry last week while in Cape Town for?AEC African Energy Week. Here’s are a few highlights: 1?? ExxonMobil Africa?reaffirmed our commitment to help meet demand for affordable energy, while also lowering emissions.?In Mozambique, we're advancing a project in the Rovuma Basin that's?projected to produce 18 million tons of liquified natural gas per year. Target FID: 2026. 2?? We expect to create thousands of jobs and support local communities. Since 2006, we've invested more than $46 billion in new energy projects on the continent. And today more than 90% of our talented employees in Africa are African. We hosted the finals of a new regional ExxonMobil Foundation STEM competition with?Junior Achievement Africa. Over 3,000 students participated in early STEM quizzes and hundreds of students competed in local STEM competitions. The winning teams from Angola, Namibia, Nigeria and Mozambique presented their?solutions to real-world problems at?AEC African Energy Week. ExxonMobil supplied a bio marine fuel blend to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), as the vessel operator was looking to test a fuel that aligned with its evolving environmental strategy. MOL reported that the trial was a success, both in terms of achieving an estimated 20% reduced lifecycle CO2 emissions compared to conventional marine fuel oil (according to MOL analysis) and reliable engine operations.
