September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, which coincides with Construction Suicide Prevention Week - dedicated to raising awareness about the higher-than-average number of suicides in the construction industry, and to providing resources to help prevent those deaths. Spencer Workman was recently promoted to Safety Manager and is responsible for all aspects of safety on a site level. Spencer promotes Exxel’s “Safety as a Value” culture and implements site safety policies and procedures. Spencer provides detailed safety inspections, thorough accident investigations, safety plan reviews, safety meetings, and ensures safety documentation in completed among other tasks. He works with owners, owner’s representatives, and outside agencies to produce safety solutions and ensure regulatory compliance is maintained. Spencer also works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure they are supported in achieving safety success. Spencer recently accomplished his master’s degree from Central Washington University. He enjoys playing the drums, golfing, and keeping up with many sports including his primary passion of NASCAR. Members of our Exxel team recently spent an afternoon volunteering with Common Threads at the Cordata Elementary School Garden weeding, harvesting, and doing general garden beautification. Common Threads is a Bellingham based non-profit that connects kids to healthy food in the garden, in the kitchen, and at the table.
