To our valued customers we are informing our customers of the new GOVERNMENT EPA changes that are going into effect 1/1/2025 . HFC Phase Down: Under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is reducing the production and use of HFCs (including R-134a and R-410A) over the next few decades. HFCs are powerful greenhouse gases, so the aim is to cut HFC production by 85% over 15 years, starting in 2022. How These Changes Affect You: Higher Costs for Maintenance of Older Systems: If your air conditioning or refrigeration system uses R-22, repairs and maintenance might become more expensive due to the limited availability of the refrigerant. You may need to upgrade or retrofit your system to use newer refrigerants. Need for System Upgrades: Older systems using R-22 will eventually need to be replaced or converted to use newer, eco-friendly refrigerants. Retrofitting could help you avoid a full system replacement, but it's still an investment. Impact on Homeowners and Businesses: Homeowners with older air conditioning units and businesses that rely on large-scale refrigeration systems, such as grocery stores or food processors, will need to budget for these upcoming changes. 1. The current equipment that uses R-410A (refrigerant) is being phased out as we speak and will not be manufactured next year. 2. Parts for current equipment will still be available for the life expectancy of equipment. 3. There is 25%-40% price increase happening on the new R454b equipment! 4. New equipment never been tested in our homes so we don't know what defects and problems might cause during this transition. 5. New equipment is flammable (manufactures say mildly flammable) our opinion on this its either flammable or not . 6. New equipment uses r454b require full system replacement including furnace (the r454b Systems have to communicate with evaporator coil incase there is freon leak since r454b is mildly flammable as they say safety concerns arises and blower have to shutdown outdoor unit and keep running to deplete the concentration due to flammability concerns) vs current system R410A WHICH you can replace parts or failed COILS and no safety concerns OR FLAMMABILITY. Would you like more details on how to handle this transition with your specific equipment or help finding alternatives?
