Completed in early 2021, this unique school is a testament to the seamless integration of Alaska Native culture with contemporary educational practices. Nestled in the serene Chester Valley greenbelt, the CINHS stands out with its beadwork-inspired exterior and thoughtfully designed curving classroom wings, celebrating the Dena’ina Athabascan heritage. Each classroom serves as a nurturing haven, featuring warm finishes, heated floors, and gentle lighting that fosters a sense of comfort and safety for the children. The innovative central firepit and smoke hole light fixtures symbolize the heart of community sharing — where stories and wisdom are exchanged in a space that truly feels like home.
