We’re thrilled to announce that Explore Evansville has won the Best Eclipse Promotion for Small Markets at the Indiana Tourism Association 2025 Indiana Tourism Conference! ??? This incredible recognition wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support and participation from our local partners who all came together to truly make Evansville an exciting and safe place to be during the Solar Eclipse. Our Director of Marketing, Kate Reibel, recently sat down with Eyewitness News WEHT/WTVW to discuss how Explore Evansville contributed to Evansville's 2024 economic landscape by hosting 103 events, resulting in an incredible $42 million in economic impact! From sports tournaments to large-scale conventions, the Explore Evansville team helped to generate 48,784 room nights. Notable events included the IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament, U.S. Figure Skating National Theater on Ice, and the USSSA Great Lakes Nationals. Sports Tourism Highlights: ?? $25 million in economic impact from sports tourism ?? 70 events attracting visitors from across the country ?? Deaconess Sports Park hosted 1,576 teams, generating $12+ million ?? ? A behind-the-scenes look as the Old National Events Plaza is transformed into volleyball courts for the Presidents' Day Volleyball Tournament! It’s a prime example of how Evansville’s flexible convention spaces are put to work, bringing major sporting events to our city and driving local tourism and engagement. Explore Evansville had a blast at the Junior Achievement USA JobSpark Career Fair! ???Through interactive games, tourism trivia, and a competitive hospitality relay, 8th graders got hands-on with the world of Hospitality and Tourism. Races were won, records were broken, and most importantly, students learned about the exciting opportunities in tourism before taking the leap into high school. ???Big News for Evansville! ?? We're thrilled to announce that Explore Evansville has been awarded two 2024 Champion of Economic Impact Awards in Sports Tourism by Sports Destination Management! ???? The 2024 IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament and the US Figure Skating Theatre on Ice National Competition generated nearly $7 million for our local economy and brought in over 10,000 athletes and spectators resulting in almost 6,000 in hotel room nights! This means more support for our community, local businesses, and citywide growth. ???? A huge shoutout to our incredible event partners, local organizing committees, and volunteers—your hard work and dedication make moments like these possible. ????
