Happy 25th birthday to us! ?? ?? ?? In 1999, former Port of Los Angeles commissioner Carol Rowen founded EXP as the International Trade Education Programs, Inc. (ITEP) with the support of the Port of Los Angeles and maritime and international trade leaders. The organization was established to address the industry's need for a skilled workforce and local high schools' challenges in graduating students. Today, June 8, 2024, we are celebrating 25 years of helping young people gain experience, unlock doors, and build the confidence they need to succeed in school, career, and life. "Our founder, Carol Rowen, and our past CEO, Amy Grat, have built a remarkable legacy that touches countless lives," said Mary Tran, CEO of EXP. "I am honored and thrilled to build upon their vision by continuing to bridge the gap between education and business, ensuring that students receive the support and opportunities they need to thrive in their academic and professional pursuits, thus creating a more diverse, equitable, and stronger workforce in our local community." To celebrate this significant milestone, EXP invites the community to get involved with its mission to prepare students for a better life! ?? NOW: Support our life-changing internship program. You can help provide direct economic support to 131 internship candidates this summer, allowing them to concentrate fully on their meaningful internship experience. --> https://lnkd.in/gQTvNgp ?? NEXT: In honor of its founder, we are set to launch the Carol Rowen Legacy Circle in the fall of 2024. This initiative will recognize individuals whose ongoing support ensures the availability and expansion of EXP programs for youth in our community. Ask Jessica Ure?a for more details. ?? NEXT YEAR: Mark your calendars for April 2025, when we will celebrate our 25th anniversary at the 25th annual Oceans of Opportunity Awards and Scholarship Celebration! (Honor roll sponsorship is available now! Ask Jessica as well.) Looking forward to celebrating with you! ?? #opportunityengine #25thanniversary #silveranniversary #workforcedevelopment #summerinternship #highschoolinternship #careerreadiness
关于我们
EXP is the opportunity engine. A Southern California 501(c)3 organization, our programs help schools deliver an innovative, career-based curriculum that makes classroom learning relevant and exciting. During the 2022-2023 school year, EXP programs are made available to more than 8,200 high school students in 13 Southern California high schools across 5 school districts. Our success depends on our unique ability to bring industry and schools together to solve problems and overcome obstacles that prevent students' access to education, experience and opportunities. More than 400 industry leaders serve as EXP volunteers, mentors and internship hosts each year. By helping schools and industry work together, EXP is changing how society prepares students for life and bringing genuine opportunity to every young person we can reach.

This first class of International Trade Academy (ITA) at Phineas Banning High School was also part of our first internship cohort. ?? They helped us pioneer what would become our highly successful internship program today. Internships have been an essential part of EXP programs since our founding in 1999. Your continuing support has provided pivotal tools to build the next generation of workforce and unlock opportunities for our students from our very first cohort of 15 interns in 2001 to the 125 interns who completed the program this summer. Take a look back at our far we've come as we look forward to growing and evolving the program to provide more students with this life-changing experience for the next 25 years.
