BEYOND BRANDING: How Tanqueray is Bridging Culture and Advocacy through Partnerships Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the job of culture to breathe magic into the lived moments where our brands are enjoyed and experienced. This year I introduced what I call an “ethos of image making” which is a code of creative for makers to follow in order to deliver the result of images that feel alive with the real world, buzzing with living emotion and featuring the real humans of cocktail culture in the theater of the on-trade. This became real this month at World Class Global Finals in Shanghai- the first launching place for Tanqueray No. TEN’s global Tastemakers platform. Three international cocktail creatives from three markets (USA, GB and IT) have partnered with Tanqueray as thought leaders, industry experts, and co-conspirators for the future of cocktail culture. Introducing the Tanqueray No. TEN Tastemakers, Tiffanie Barriere , Giulia Cuccurullo and Matteo Di ienno The content featuring these three amazing humans features the programming that each of them designed, prepared and produced during World Class. Across the week of World Class, three iconic Martini creators also lent their skills to the bespoke Tanqueray menus on offer at the W Hotel Shanghai. A Martini trilogy menu created by Orlando Marzo , Erik Lorincz and Adrian Michalcik paid homage to the three bottle designs that each world class winner held in their hands the year they won Global Bartender of the Year, presenting a twist on the Tanqueray challenge for this year’s competition to reflect industry legends from cocktail culture. Hats off to the mastermind behind every Tanqueray No. TEN touch point from the week- Jenna Ba for her outstanding creative direction which not only touched the brand’s DNA but expressed its essence into a future worth toasting to! Thank you and congratulations to Kevin Delaney for stewarding and enabling Tanqueray to be everything it could be this year. WHAT A WEEK ? It’s hard to believe it’s over, but World Class Shanghai has officially come to a close. It was a truly special 6 days here of celebrating 15 years of promoting cocktail culture with our incredible global hospitality community, which was capped off by Keegan McGregor of Canada taking the top gong as our Global Bartender of the Year 2024! ? As is only appropriate for such an auspicious anniversary, we had to go big. There are far too many moments and memories to call everything out, but here are a few of my highlights: - Delivering a monster 160+ sessions brand experiences, challenges, tastings, seminars, and more - Having our most diverse judging panel yet, consisting of 18 absolute legends of the industry - Putting Shanghai’s best venues and hospitality on show with 40+ guest shifts and branded pop ups taking over the city with the World Class Cocktail Festival - The return of the Industry Forum masterclasses/seminars/think tanks, and the launch of its mentorship program - Launching the World Class Lab in partnership with Sober Company, creating a legacy of education and capability with Shanghai’s bartenders - 10x immersive brand activation spaces, bringing Diageo’s Luxury Portfolio to life in partnership with the best bartending talent in the world ? I also want to say a huge thank you to the many partners that gave all their dedication and passion into delivering this event. It takes a village to do this!
