Throwback to last month when Venue hosted Insperity's celebration of their Detroit office. What an amazing opportunity to listen to words of wisdom from legendary #MichiganBasketball coach #JohnBeilein! We love all the wonderful people that utilize our gathering spaces.
Awesome opportunity to listen to words of wisdom from legendary #MichiganBasketball coach #JohnBeilein yesterday at Insperity's celebration of its Detroit office. Excited to share the event with Chuck Hurst, AIF? of Marsh McLennan Agency. A couple of big takeaways that if you know how Beilein operated his program, comes at no surprise. Above all, he said "#integrity tumps everything." Doing the right thing is not a question to be considered. Doing the right thing is the ONLY way to handle your business. He also remarked that rules are black and white, but sometimes we find the gray. His message "Don't follow the rules. Follow the spirit of the rule. Because rules can be broken or bent, but we all know the actual intent/spirit of the rule." One more than resonated with me: "Get the right people on the bus and don't worry about who you don't get, only about the team you assemble. Find the people that are compelled to want to work with you." He mentioned that if you emphasize talent first over character, it will haunt you. He'd rather see a more talented player go elsewhere than sacrifice character. As he noted, a talented player going to a rival might beat you twice in a season, but if they were on your team, and didn't buy in to your culture, they might beat you 31 times (the length of the season). We are always honored when we get to host events for our community members and this next event is for a really valuable partner in the Ann Arbor and Washtenaw Communities, Peace Neighborhood Center . Their annual fundraiser 'Thanks for Giving' is less than a month away on November 7th and will be hosted at?Venue. Their goal this year is to raise funds to replace some of Peace's aging transportation vehicles — and to celebrate all the ways the Peace's fleet of vehicles help them keep the wheels turning across their programs and services.
