“In the Lord of the Rings, we don’t get sad when we hear about the return of the King.” Fr. Jason Charron in this week’s interview on the Exodus 90 app. How does Christ transform the way we approach death? Fr. Jason Charron serves as our Spiritual Guide during the Month of the Dead as we explore this question, pray for the souls of the faithful departed, and seek to live in such a way that we are ready for our own deaths, whenever the Father might call us home. Each Monday, we will post a conversation with Fr. Jason in our series titled Memento Mori, a Latin phrase that means “Remember your death.” ??Download the Exodus 90 app today: https://lnkd.in/gmHXvY9D

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH ON THE EXODUS 90 APP? ?? Month of the Dead ?? During the month of October, Blessed Karl of Austria inspired us to become men of wisdom and peace. As we shift our focus to the afterlife during November—the Month of the Dead—we consider the ultimate reason why strive to become the men God calls us to be. Meditating with hope on the life to come will help us to value our time on earth and live courageously as we prepare to meet the Lord at the hour of our death. The Gospel of Matthew will challenge us to change the way we perceive our relationships, work, and possessions. ?? Allhallowtide and Octave During November, we also turn our attention and prayers to those who have gone before us. The Church offers three days of holy observance to kick off the Month of the Dead: Halloween, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day. In this triduum, traditionally known as Allhallowtide, we remember and celebrate the myriad of saints in heaven and offer prayers for the holy souls in purgatory. From November 1st to the 8th, we also observe a period known as the All Hallows Octave, in which the Church offers a special set of indulgences that can be claimed for the holy souls in purgatory. We will pray together the Office of the Dead to claim a partial indulgence every day of the octave. It will be available in the app’s Home Tab and in audio format. Happy Feast Day of Bl. Karl of Austria! Blessed Karl’s approach to leadership was through his commitment to the fulfilling of his duties. Even more than this, his sacrificial love guided him in seeking his people’s good above all else. We can follow his example by taking our obligations seriously as Christian men, especially in our family life and work, which call us to give of ourselves in love. In?our October Challenge we are making our way through the Book of Sirach, focused on growing as men of wisdom and peace. In this adventure, we will turn to the example of a saint who was not a priest or monk but a lay man, a holy husband and father: the last Catholic Emperor, Blessed Karl of Austria, who dedicated his life to seeking peace. Blessed Karl was beatified by Pope St. John Paul II in 2004 and his feast day is October 21st. Throughout the month, Exodus 90 will host a series of weekly conversations on the life of Blessed Karl and it's not too late for you to join us and get access to these powerful interviews with Archduke Christian of Austria, Archduke Eduard Hapsburg, Charles Coulombe, and Fr.
