Thanks to the University of Central Lancashire and Matthew Dickinson for hosting me in February! It was great hearing about their new innovation park, Altitude, in partnership with BAE Systems. Plus the amazing research their professors are conducting from the latest tribiology lubrication on cubesats to 3d printing of structures using drones. Later in the week, we visited with the North West Regional Defence & Security Cluster and Primary Engineer. Lastly, we talked about how we could work together to further the Center's mission to help people of all ages pursue a high quality life and fully participate in work and society.

I had some great conversations today! First with Hadley Brooks about how AI is changing research and additive manufacturing. Secondly, with Ben Cordery and the F48.01 task group (Malcolm Dunson-Todd, Benjamin Beiter) around the exoskeleton classification work item being drafted. Another amazing day with Matthew Dickinson. We met with Susan Scurlock MBE from Primary Engineer where I learned about the Primary Engineer MacRobert Medal and the 1000s of young people around the UK that Dr. Scurlock's organization is reaching to introduce engineering in their formative years. Pictured below is Susan and myself with the Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) jacket (i.e., this project one the first Primary Engineer MacRobert Medal in 2021) that came from an idea of 15 year old Krystyna Marshall and was turned into reality by Matt Dickinson and his team at University of Central Lancashire.
