Secretary Augustus joined Governor Healey, Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, The Boston Foundation, Eastern Bank and MHP (Massachusetts Housing Partnership) today to announce the launch of ONE+, an innovative program designed to make homeownership more accessible for first-time homebuyers in 29 communities across Massachusetts.
“The Partnership’s first investment in the ONE+ program will unlock homeownership opportunities for hundreds of Greater Boston families, but it is just the beginning of our growing commitment to expand down payment assistance and create and preserve wealth in underserved communities and households of color through homeownership,” Lee Pelton, TBF President and CEO. Today we celebrated the launch of the Massachusetts Housing Partnership’s new ONE+ program! A mortgage program to help income-eligible first-time homebuyers in 29 MA communities own a home, the ONE+ program is launching with over $11 million in support led by the Commonwealth, Eastern Bank and the Eastern Bank Foundation, and the Boston Foundation’s Racial Wealth Gap Partnership. The ONE+ program is the first grantee of the Racial Wealth Gap Partnership's Down Payment Assistance Program. More about the ONE+ launch: https://bit.ly/3Oo5enI

“The intention of the MBTA Communities law is to increase opportunities for new housing, which will lower costs for us all, and we commend cities and towns who are planning for the future needs of their residents. Forward-looking communities are not only seeking compliance with the law but working hard to seize this opportunity to create and expand vibrant, affordable neighborhoods that meet the needs of their young families, senior citizens, and municipal workforce," said Ed Augustus, Secretary of Housing and Livable Communities. Since Monday, town meetings in #Belmont, #Foxborough, #Hopkinton, #ManchesterbytheSea, #Seekonk, #Shirley, #Shrewsbury, #Ashland, #Kingston, #Millis, and #Bellingham approved new multifamily zoning districts. https://lnkd.in/eE5bFDdX

Secretary Augustus was in Ludlow yesterday to celebrate the Residences at Mill 8. This incredible development created 95 mixed-income apartments for older adults while repurposing an old mill and restoring the town’s iconic clock tower. The Executive Office of Housing & Livable Communities is proud to have contributed $12.5 million in state subsidies, including $5.5 million in ARPA funds. In addition, we are pleased to deliver more than $23 million in Federal and State Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity. Plus, this project received a $3.5 million MassWorks grants to support the community's infrastructure needs. Congratulations to WinnCompanies for this beautiful adaptive reuse project. ?

Secretary Augustus attended the annual Commonwealth Investor Conference yesterday. In Massachusetts, we aren’t doing one thing to address our housing challenges, we are doing everything. From zoning reform - to increased investments - to policy changes the Healey-Driscoll Administration is taking the lead and moving toward a Massachusetts where our workforce can fulfill their own American dream.
