A voice and a home for all military surgeons and civilian partners within the American College of Surgeons
关于我们
Medicine is constantly changing, particularly military medicine. As the Military Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, the Excelsior Surgical Society provides a voice and a home for all military surgeons and our civilian partners within the largest surgical organization in the world. The Excelsior Surgical Society serves as both an on-ramp to membership in the College as well as an off-ramp for surgeons as they separate from the military and transition to civilian practice. Additionally, in today’s evolving environment, the Military-Civilian Partnership is now as important as ever.

Welcome our next President, CAPT Matthew Tadlock, USN, speaking at the Excelsior reception at #ACSCC24. Thank you American College of Surgeons for all of your support! Looking forward to our 80/10 Anniversary in Rome, Italy, celebrating 80 years since ESS was founded after World War II and 10 years since its reestablishment under the Military Health System Strategic Partnership with the American College of Surgeons.

This week at the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress, Surgeon to Soldiers 2024 Edition launched...capping off a 2 1/2 year journey from "this just might work" to publication. Thank you Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS for highlighting this unique project during the opening ceremony and Michael Sutherland for your unyielding support of this effort. Eric Elster, MD, FACS, FRCS (Eng) CAPT, MC USN (RET), Dean of Uniformed Services University served as a great editorial collaborator and "battle buddy" throughout this project. Most importantly, though, this would not have been possible without the contributions of over 100 of our colleagues who offered their time and talent to place Dr. Edward Churchill's insights into a modern context. To learn more of this important history from World War II that is so relevant today, consider joining the Excelsior Surgical Society as we seek to "PRESERVE the lessons of the past, IMPROVE care in the present, and ANTICIPATE challenges of the future."

Also got to hang with another past ESS President, COL Danielle Holt, MD (and former resident) who is an Associate Dean for USUHS in charge of recruiting surgeons for the military. She runs a great program helping students be better candidates for medical school while making medical careers possible for those with fewer financial resources. Well done, Dr. Holt. #sagesupdates #excelsiorsurg #triplersurgery #triplersurgeonsrock
