At Excel, our 22nd school year is off to a strong start across all five campuses in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Our core purpose is what it’s always been:?ensuring every student in every classroom experiences exceptional growth through excellent teaching. Last year, Excel students experienced incredible growth, outperforming districts locally and statewide. In Massachusetts, Excel students?ranked 9th in the state for growth in middle school ELA and 3rd among charter schools. At the high school, 95% of students met the #MCAS graduation requirement on their first attempt compared to 78% across the state. The impact of this growth is evident in our recent graduates’ achievements: ??? 96% of the Class of 2024 took at least one college level Advanced Placement (AP) course, with 37% of the class taking five or more ?? 66% of the Class of 2024 earned college credit through attaining high scores on their AP exams ?? 80% of the Class of 2024 matriculated to college this fall These results are a testament to the exceptional work and dedication of our educators and students. As we celebrate growth and achievement, we recognize that important work lies ahead to ensure that they are all ready for college and career success when they graduate from our high school. #MCAS #EdThatAddsUP

关于我们
Excel Academy was founded in 2003 with the mission to provide a high-quality education to students in East Boston and Chelsea Massachusetts, communities that are predominantly low-income and Latinx and historically have faced significant social and educational barriers. Our success in Massachusetts is proof that the opportunity gap can be closed. At Excel Academy Charter Schools, we believe that when a student has the support and tools to pursue a productive post-secondary pathway aligned to their personal identity and values, it can fundamentally change their life trajectory. Over the years, we have grown from one middle school to a network of four schools with 1,400 students in grades 5 to 12. In the fall of 2022 we will welcome a founding class of 5th graders to help us launch Excel Academy Rhode Island. By 2032, Excel Rhode Island will run 4 schools serving over 2,100 students from Providence, Central Falls, and North Providence. We present our students with educational experiences that allow them to grow and discover their best selves so that when they leave our halls, they can successfully navigate all of the post-secondary options available to them. At Excel Academy we learn from our students, families, and staff and make improvements. We have increasingly adapted to provide a holistic education that values our community as collaborators in the learning process, social-emotional support, equity for diverse learners, and fosters identity development. We prioritize an approach that is both rigorous and inclusive. Our team of passionate, intelligent, driven, and loving staff are at the core of the work we do. Growth Happens Here.

Excel High School students are working hard this summer! They are taking advantage of incredible career exploration opportunities, like rising senior Makayla who is participating in the UMass Chan Medical School High School Health Careers Program. During this 4 week program, she and her cohort are challenged daily in academic settings, including intensive SAT preparation and learning about contemporary issues in health care. The students are required to complete a health disparities research project on a cultural group in Massachusetts. https://lnkd.in/gVyn4W88

What is Belonging — And Why Does it Matter in Today’s Divided, Lonely World? It’s not a buzzword, a checkbox or a synonym for diversity and inclusion. Psychologists and experts explain what belonging is, how it matters to you and why it’s more important than ever. Brandon Brito (College of the Holy Cross '20 and Excel Academy Charter Schools Associate Director of College and Career Counseling) talks about how he helps Excel Academy High School students navigate feelings of Imposter Syndrome as they create their post-secondary pathways. "To help his students, he spends time with them one-on-one: 'recalibrating or grounding students in what they’re capable of, unpacking a lot of their fears and insecurities and imposter syndrome, which are really real feelings.'" ??
