Last year during #WomensHistoryMonth, leaders from?EY and Kenvue sat down with moderator?Jonna Switzer MBA, PMP, Managing Director, Cybersecurity Consulting, at Ernst & Young LLP, to?lead virtual event Empowered Women, Empower Women. ? Check out upcoming events:?https://lnkd.in/gznYk4Hk Check out these amazing insights from the panelists on?what it means to be an #empowered woman, and how they have?implemented this principle to foster female #leadership and growth in #cyber. ???Trish DiGiacomo, Senior Director, Global Business Information Security Office (BISO), Kenvue “It comes down to confidence, resilience, and trust. Confidence - having faith in my background, my know-how, my technical acumen, and continuing to bring that to the table. Resilience – we’ve got a lot to handle every day. When you marry that with your career, there are going to be days that just aren’t great. But, hopefully, we have that mental fortitude to lean on our network, which is where the trust comes in. Trusting ourselves and the network around us, whether it be in our family or within our career, and bringing them in when you need them. There is a lot you must face. It’s important to feel empowered so we can give a thoughtful yes, give a thoughtful no, or be humble enough to say 'I don’t know let me help you find the answer.'” ???Esther Lee, Partner, Cybersecurity Consulting, Ernest & Young LLP “As women, I think we tend to feel like we must do it alone. We are bad about asking for help and have a hesitancy to create an inconvenience for someone else. Men don’t have an issue with this. They always go to market together, they hunt in packs, they help each other out. I think there needs to be more of that. That’s something I have taken upon myself in our organization, to create a group of executive women who do exactly that. That’s something that should be pervasive at every level.” ???Sarah L., Senior Director of Identity and Access Management, Kenvue “I think how I have come up in my career, I have benefited from strong women leaders. Throughout my career, being able to see folks who are achieving a great amount of success has been tremendously helpful. We must also make sure we are bringing up others as well. Creating that space, working together, creating opportunities for folks who might not see themselves in those roles, or who feel they aren’t ready for those roles. How do we mentor, support, encourage, etc. Sending the elevator back down and making sure there is room for others at the table.” #InformationSecurity?#RiskManagement?#Privacy?#Cybersecurity?#WomenInTech?#GirlsWhoCode?#WomenInSTEM?#TechWomen?#CodeLikeAGirl?#WomenInEngineering?#WomenInScience?#WomenInIT?#GirlsInTech?#TechDiversity?#Diversityintech?#womenempowerment?#womenempoweringwomen

This week, in celebration of #WomensHistoryMonth, we are sharing inspiring insights from past EWF events. Last year,?Christopher Lukas,?CISO at?Chevron,?and?Sean Joyce, Global and US Cybersecurity and Privacy Leader at?PwC,?lead a virtual event on the role of allies in advancing women in #cybersecurity. Both?discussed the importance of building strong networks and supporting the women on their teams. ? EWF Members, log into EWF CONNECT to view the full video:?https://lnkd.in/gGDCA63A ? Check out upcoming events:?https://lnkd.in/gznYk4Hk Check out these amazing insights to learn how to better support your team members and tips for advocating for yourself. ?? Christopher Lukas “We’re all in this together. Period. This isn’t a he, she, or them problem. It’s a we problem. We’re all in this together. I don’t have the same experience as a woman does, so for me to learn and grow is important. My closest experience is when I joined the navy . . . I entered into this foreign place where everyone was different…. I had to build relationships, I had to utilize networks, and I had to rely on others, and I had to have allies to help myself succeed and grow. As I sit here today, allyship is taking experiences I’ve had and applying them to the people I interact with.” “I told a female leader I admire at Chevron… I don’t know if I’m doing good enough with mentorship, [if I’m reaching out to a wide enough range of people.] She said, ‘step back and look at who is asking you to be mentored, who trusts you, who is asking for your help. Look around. If everyone asking you for mentorship looks like you, you probably are not hitting the mark.’” ?? Sean Joyce “Mid-career, I didn’t really know what diversity of thought was. I learned later in my development. . . that different personalities brought an incredible benefit to my leadership and management skills.” “I tell my team leaders, “you should be helping each other.” That’s the environment you must bring to the table. . . It’s not about “how am I doing,” it’s “how are we doing.” It’s the collective “we” and reaching out for help. . . Take those micro steps, send that text, write that email, make that phone call [to reach out for mentoring and coaching.] And if the person isn’t receptive, try again.” #InformationSecurity?#RiskManagement?#Privacy?#Cybersecurity?#WomenInTech?#GirlsWhoCode?#WomenInSTEM?#TechWomen?#CodeLikeAGirl?#WomenInEngineering?#WomenInScience?#WomenInIT?#GirlsInTech?#TechDiversity?#Diversityintech?#womenempowerment?#womenempoweringwomen

At the 2024 EWF Annual Conference Maria J. Cardow, Global CIO Cyber Solutions at Aon,?was announced as the Corporate Practitioner?Women of Influence Award Recipient. In celebration of?#WomensHistoryMonth, we have asked the 2024 recipients to share insights into their leadership journey, and highlight moments of bravery. ?? "Some years ago, I was feeling uninspired by my own career. As I went to make changes, I slowly came to the realization that the change I needed to make was to myself." "No more making myself assimilate, focusing on being what a not so nebulous 'they' were expecting. I started engaging with the people around me with a new mentality. I call it "Peak Me." When something is difficult, a conversation hard, or a decision impossible, I focus on the one thing I can really control: myself. Am I acting like "Peak Me"?" "This shift helps me to search for the answers that are most aligned with what I really believe and demands that I give my best. It wasn't a premeditated way forward, but when those moments during tense situations hit, I try to dig into myself and bring forth the best that I have. For me, this started with job interviews where I realized they were looking for someone who didn't "look" like me. I kicked over the interview and leaned in so very hard into who I am and what I have to bring to the table. This also helped me to be honest about not taking the jobs where I would not be happy and focus on finding roles where I could really be myself, and that being myself could solve the tough problems." "I don't think I know how to crack the code on being brave. That seems awfully daunting. I can only share that my focus on delivering "Peak Me" has brought me a great deal more joy and satisfaction and helped me feel up to the task. However you need to position your mind and heart to get you through the fire: find it and hold on!" ???Thank you, Maria, for inspiring us all to be our 'peak' selves during the small moments. That is true bravery! The WOI Awards honor women for their accomplishments and leadership roles in the fields of information security, risk management, and privacy. ?? Submissions are open now for the 2025 WOI Awards! ??https://lnkd.in/gGaHDnUp #InformationSecurity?#RiskManagement?#Privacy?#Cybersecurity?#WomenInTech?#GirlsWhoCode?#WomenInSTEM?#TechWomen?#CodeLikeAGirl?#WomenInEngineering?#WomenInScience?#WomenInIT?#GirlsInTech?#TechDiversity?#Diversityintech?#womenempowerment?#womenempoweringwomen
