Evvy is unlocking precision women’s healthcare through novel, overlooked female biomarkers — starting with the vaginal microbiome. Backed by leading healthcare investors such as General Catalyst, Left Lane Capital, and LabCorp, the Evvy team includes leading OB/GYNs and vaginal microbiome researchers with decades of experience at organizations like UCSF, Stanford, Harvard, Cleveland Clinic, and more. Evvy is one of the fastest growing women’s health companies in the US — enabling us to deliver innovative, high quality care while scaling novel R&D to unlock a new, data-driven future in women’s health. Evvy’s Vaginal Health Test is the first at-home vaginal microbiome test to use metagenomic sequencing to tell you what’s up down there, why it matters, and what you can do about it. Evvy’s larger platform is the first vaginal healthcare service to bring together state-of-the-art testing, precision clinical care, and 1:1 coaching to give women and people with vaginas the care they deserve. Through this platform, Evvy is building real-world datasets that can transform our understanding of complex female health conditions. Imagine a world where female health is finally understood: where risks are detected early and precisely; conditions are defined with specificity and nuance; and diseases are treated with personalization and care. That’s the world that Evvy is pioneering.

I'm pleased to announce the addition of David Lyttle, Ph.D., Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, Evvy, to the speaking faculty for the 10th Annual Translational Microbiome Conference (https://lnkd.in/dF9GD4m) on April 10-11, 2025 in Boston. In his presentation, Dr. Lyttle will provide insights from a large-scale study of microbial taxa and biochemical pathways. Vaginitis affects up to 30% of women globally and is a leading cause of gynecological visits, with vaginal odor being the most frequently reported and distressing symptom. Despite its prevalence, the microbial and biochemical mechanisms driving odor remain poorly understood, limiting therapeutic advances. Evvy's latest research analyzed patient-reported data and shotgun metagenomic sequencing from 6,585 non-menopausal individuals, identifying seven bacterial taxa linked to odor severity. We also uncovered a significant association between the putrescine pathway and severe odor cases. These findings pave the way for translating metagenomic insights into clinical tools for precision diagnostics and targeted treatments in vaginal health. Join us at this year's event, where our speakers from both academia and industry will be sharing cutting-edge microbiome research. Thank you to Ali Donaldson for writing this piece shedding a light on Evvy and other femtech leaders navigating the evolving landscape of women’s health. As I shared in the article, patient needs don’t disappear just because an administration pretends they don’t exist. If anything, increasing gaps in access and reliable information only make our work at Evvy more critical. This moment presents both a challenge and an opportunity. The challenge? An uphill battle against misinformation, restrictions, and a strained healthcare system. The opportunity? A growing urgency for patient-driven, science-backed solutions that meet women where they are. As founders, we’re not waiting for permission to build the future of healthcare that women deserve. ?? Censorship in science should terrify everyone — and it costs lives. The National Science Foundation is reportedly flagging grant proposals for using certain words — and the full list is truly unbelievable. The banned terms include “female” and “women” — but guess what’s not on the list? "Male” or “Men”. "Black”, “Latinx”, and “Indigenous” are flagged —?but “white” is not. The list goes on. If a grant contains two or more of these words, it’s escalated for further review, delay, or rejection. At Evvy, part of our core mission is to raise awareness for the fact that women and people of color weren’t required in clinical research until 1993 in the US. We need more inclusion in clinical research to make up for that, not less. #womenshealth #genderhealthgap

The Trump administration just ordered a massive purge of federal health agency websites—deleting crucial data on LGBTQ+ health, HIV, adolescent health, and even tools that help track public health crises. This isn’t just bureaucratic housekeeping—this is a direct attack on our right to access life-saving information. Here’s a partial list of what's been erased so far: ? LGBTQ+ health pages – Removed from the CDC & NIH websites ? HIV prevention and risk behavior data – Scrubbed from the CDC, including pages on HIV disparities by race and transgender health ? AtlasPlus – A CDC tool with nearly 20 years of surveillance data on HIV, hepatitis, STDs, and TB? ? Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) – The nation’s largest dataset on adolescent health, tracking everything from mental health to substance use ? CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index – A public health tool used to assess community resilience in the face of disasters ? Environmental Justice Index – A federal database tracking health disparities linked to environmental factors ? CDC’s efforts to address racism as a driver of health disparities – Removed from public view This isn’t just a war on “gender ideology”—this is a war on science, public health, and basic human rights. Access to health education and information is life-saving. We cannot let this happen quietly. Share this, talk about it, and make noise. If you need sexual health resources in the meantime, Evvy has over 200 science-backed, medically reviewed articles on Evvy.com/Ask, and we’ll continue to distribute trusted resources to our community in the coming days. https://lnkd.in/eniUHnZS

The antidote to the news: tell us what you’re innovating on in women’s health ?? The state of women’s health as Tr*mp takes office: ?? Women weren’t required in U.S. clinical research until 1993. That means we’re still decades behind in understanding the female body. ?? Women are diagnosed on average 4 years later than men across 770+ diseases. ?? Women are more likely to die from heart attacks, react poorly to prescription drugs, and have our pain and symptoms dismissed by doctors. (This is a very, very partial list of effed facts —?see more at equalresearchday.com) ?? Despite making up 51% of the population, women’s health research receives a small fraction of healthcare venture dollars and R&D funding. We can’t afford to be set back another 4 years —?it’s time to demand research, innovation, and care that actually work for us. Like our team at Evvy, I know so many people in this community are also working on real solutions to close the gender health gap—whether in research, product development, policy, or care delivery. To get some hope going, I’d love to hear: What are you working on, and how are you closing the gender health gap in 2025 and beyond? ??
