And the December NEVI awards announcements keep on a comin' ... Kentucky (KYTC) today announced its NEVI Round 3 awards, with a total of 11 sites and $8.6 million in funding. Francis Energy is the top winner with four site awards, followed by Pilot Travel Centers and EvGateway with two sites each. States and DC and Puerto Rico have now awarded 957 sites and $580 million. With 12 days left in 2024, will any other states announce NEVI awards and will we reach 1,000 NEVI site awards?

Busy few days on the NEVI front: - Texas announced its Round 2 awards, with Love's the big winner, with 10 sites out of 33. - Two new Texas Tesla NEVI sites have opened in recent days: Cotulla (8 ports) and Gainesville (12 ports total, 7 of which are NEVI funded). - Maryland and Alabama have each opened their second round NEVI RFPs. - Unless we've missed some others, there are now 40 NEVI-funded sites open, with 168 ports, at a federal funding cost of $24.3 million, or $144,510 per port. It seems there will be lots of activity the next 10 days, as states and applicants work to get RFPs out, awards announced, and stations opened before the end of the year.

?? Grand Junction, Colorado announces updates and new additions to city’s EV charging stations using EvGateway software. GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Owners of electric vehicles in Grand Junction will have more spots to charge their cars following a press release issued by the city. According to the lease, Grand Junction will be building two new Level 2 Electric Vehicle charging stations and has replaced three of its own charging facilities with new software, EvGateway. Three city-owned Level 2 EV charging stations can be found at 135 S. 7th St., 925 Struthers Ave., and 1351 Riverfront Dr. The two new stations will open at Lincoln Park by the end of this year. Yesterday the?Oregon DOT (ODOT) Climate Office announced?that it had selected (intent to award, subject to final agreements) Electrify America, EVCS, and EvGateway for its NEVI Round 1 grants. ODOT expects to have agreements in place before the end of 2024, and estimates the companies will begin installing NEVI-funded stations in 2025. ? Thirteen sites were awarded, with each winning applicant selected for one of three key routes: Interstate 205, Interstate 5 (south of Eugene), and U.S. Highway 97. EV Charging Solutions, better known as EVCS, was awarded seven sites, followed by EvGateway with four, and Electrify America with two. We believe all 13 sites are 4-port stations, but per ODOT requirements, the sites will have wiring and conduit installed for two additional future ports. ? As you can see in the table, assuming all sites are four-port sites, EVCS has the highest per-port funding amount at $250,000 with EvGateway at $143,750 and Electrify America at $137,500.? ? Electrify America provided the highest average match percentage at 54.2%, with EVGateway at 32.4%, and EVCS at 25.5%. EVCS had the highest average total cost per site at $1,342,857 with Electrify America at $1.2 million, and EvGateway at $850,000. Electrify America’s costs appear to be at least partially due to 350 kW charging hardware and a pull-through lane at one site, and EVCS’s costs are likely driven by additional costs for canopies and pull-through lanes. 32 states plus the District of Columbia have now issued at least one round of NEVI awards, though New York and Vermont's awards to date were not from a competitive RFP process. Five states have announced awards for two rounds, and Pennsylvania has issued awards for three NEVI RFP rounds. Several announcements are currently overdue, so we expect that Virginia (R2), New Mexico (R2), and Puerto Rico (R1) could announce next week. And we are still waiting on the final site awards to be announced from Mass DOT, which selected vendors, but has yet to finalize the number and location of sites per each selected applicant. By the end of 2024, we expect that close to 75% of the 50 states + DC and PR will have announced at least Round 1 NEVI awards. Source: Paren (EVAdoption) NEVI Database
