A radio show and podcast hosted by Vernon Oakes hosting guests that are advancing the cooperative ownership model
关于我们
Everything Co-op is a Talk Show that airs on WOL 1450 AM, Radio One’s premiere talk radio station. The primary purpose of the show is to share information about the cooperative movement, including how to form, manage and maintain cooperatives. Cooperatives have played a critical role in providing an opportunity for people or groups to leverage a large volume of products or commodities, which ultimately reduces cost and improves quality. Although most of the guests who have appeared on the show are directly involved in the cooperative movement, people who have indirectly impacted to movement have also appeared. The objective of the show is to share information with individuals that will empower them to either form their own cooperatives, or support cooperatives and other fair trade enterprises. Everything Co-op has a conversational format. Vernon Oakes, the host of the show, engages his guests in a manner that enables them to share “their story,” while sharing valuable information at the same time. The show covers a broad range of topics related to cooperatives, and helps the listeners gain an understanding of the cooperative principles. The purpose of this website is to share information and resources that are shared by those being interviewed in a comprehensive manner. Vernon personally feels that cooperatives have the power to “help people move out of poverty with dignity.” Unfortunately, only a small number of people in the United States are aware of the cooperative business model. Therefore, he has professed his dedication to getting information about cooperatives into the hands of the people who really need to know about them. The show airs live every Thursday, on WOL 1450 AM in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, or you can listen to the live online stream at www.woldcnews.com or on the Free Tune-In Radio application on your phone. The show starts at 10:30 a.m., and runs through 11:30 am.

Susu, hagbad, ekub, cheetu are some of the names used to refer to ROSCAs in different countries. In 1883, Alice Acland saw the power of co-ops not just for economic opportunity, but as a platform for women’s advocacy, education and leadership. She co-founded the Co-operative Women's Guild, creating a space where women could learn, organize, and fight for fair wages, voting rights, and maternity care, paving the way for generations to come. Her vision embodies this year’s #WomensHistoryMonth theme “Moving Forward Together: Women Educating & Inspiring Generations”, reminding us that when women come together, entire communities thrive. #WomenInCoops #MovingForwardTogether
