Born as a trade union of poor self-employed women in 1972, Self Employed Women's Association currently boasts a 3.2 million women membership across different states in India. For over 50 years, through training in worker's rights, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, SEWA has given women a voice to negotiate better working conditions and fair wages.
