We're proud to support residents affected by the LA wildfires by teaming up to provide crucial tech assistance. Thanks to the many organizations involved in this effort including the City of Pasadena, The Los Angeles Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL) and the California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund for enabling our impact. ???? CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort)
CORE joined Human-I-T at the Jackie Robinson Community Center in Pasadena at an event for people impacted by the LA wildfires.? People were able to receive technology items such as laptops and headphones, and we also helped them register for cash assistance, provided food cards, and more. Other participating organizations included T-Mobile, NAACP, City of Pasadena, World Central Kitchen, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, Delete The Divide, LA DEAL, and Everyone On. Here's the simple truth – when we share knowledge, we change lives. In partnership with Everyone On, NPower's Community Help Desk in Dallas hosted a digital literacy workshop for Keyes Elementary School in the Irving ISD. Our team taught online safety to parents and community members who simply hadn't had the chance to learn these skills before. In appreciation, the participants even threw a celebration party after completing the course. I am extremely proud of our National Community Help Desks and partners for bringing communities together to bridge the digital divide, one workshop at a time. With the ??s they received following the course, they'll be able to continue their learning at home, opening up new doors of opportunity for them and their families. We're celebrating the most recent graduates of our Digital Skills & Digital Equity Advocacy Training, a 4-week program that gives community members #DigitalEquity advocacy tools while enhancing their own #DigitalSkills. ?? ? These trainings were conducted in partnership with Everyone On who provided comprehensive digital skills instruction, and with Somos Familia Valle. As a token of their participation, our San Fernando Valley participants received a free laptop to support their continued learning and engagement. Graduates are now better equipped with new digital skills and motivated to advocate for digital equity in their various communities! ABC is excited to continue building its base of community advocates, and centering their stories and experiences in our advocacy efforts.
