“Where do we start?”??? This might be one of my favorite questions when beginning new projects. Taking the first steps into user research or mapping out a brand new product feature can feel daunting for anyone. Wading into uncharted territory with your business or team takes real courage and an openness to change. We have the great pleasure of working with client partners who ask the hard questions and embrace new approaches to their work. Here are some ways we like to guide these explorations: ?? Establish a Shared Foundation.?Get your team and any other stakeholders together and ask, "What are we trying to achieve?" ?? Reflect Initial Thinking.?Capture the team's early thoughts in a simple model or summary to document decisions and direction. ?? Get Started!?Don’t wait until you have a perfect plan in place - carve out an iterative process or first step that you can learn from and build upon.
