Everybody Wins DC uses books and reading to help children thrive in the classroom and in life.
关于我们
Everybody Wins DC believes that when children read or are read to, they can build the skills needed to thrive in the classroom and in life. That is why since 1995, EWDC has worked with schools and community partners to deliver free reading-based programs that engage children’s minds, encourage their growth, and inspire their futures. Current programs include one-on-one mentoring, read-aloud activities, and a book distribution effort.

A special thank you to Venable LLP Foundation for providing $10k to support program year 2024-25 activities like these. Thank you for helping us make a difference and make memories for our students.
Earlier this week, our first cohort of mentors got to meet or reunite with their mentees at our beginning of the year parties. Behind all the smiles and hugs are the partner organizations who support our mission. A special thank you to Bipartisan Policy Center, Booz Allen Hamilton, EAB, and Kirkland & Ellis for having 3 or more mentors already cleared, matched, and ready to start the program year! While the first 90 matches have been made, there are still extensive waitlists at all our schools. Students at Van Ness ES and JO Wilson ES are especially in need of the mentors that’ll help them make memories like the ones you see here. Sign up to become a mentor at the link below, or email [email protected] to learn more about how to get your organization involved. https://lnkd.in/eh4v9e-b

Tuesday, students and mentors at Van Ness Elementary got a very special visit from Mike and Jodi Rizzo. Mike shared some about his experience as General Manager for the Washington Nationals, but more importantly, he and Jodi talked about how their family foundation (The Rizzo Family Foundation) is supporting Power Readers at Van Ness ES for the 2024-25 school year. Riz Kids has named EWDC as its inaugural grantee, and they gave kids and mentors at Van Ness ES gift bags to commemorate the partnership. It is only through generous partners like the Rizzos that our programs stay 100% free for our students, schools, and families. Thank you to Mike, Jodi, and everyone who supports Power Readers. Today, we're shining the spotlight on our partner, Cornerstone Research. Last Friday, they processed 250+ books that are now ready for distribution to children across the DMV, including 170+ raised from their employee book drive — that's 250+ children whose lives will be touched by these stories. Thank you, Cornerstone! Children are back in school across the DMV and need books like these now more than ever to support their learning and growth. To find out ways you can support students in their reading journeys, go to our website (link in bio) or email [email protected].
