Happy Monday all??!! I would like to express my deepest gratitude & share pics of a charity event that our organization Every Step of the Way Resource Center for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities NFP hosted a few weeks back. The 2nd Annual ESW Walk It Out Walkathon was a celebration for Disability Pride Month & a fundraiser to continue our free out-of-home respite care program for intellectually disabled adults. Respite care alllows parents or caregivers who provide continuous care for a disabled loved one a break to execute essential &/or self-care tasks independently, which ultimately rejuvenates their mental health to continue to provide care. Our fundraising proceeds were 3x the amount than last year & there was a significant increase in attendees this year!! THANK YOU to all who attended &/or donated, advocated for us this year & last year, & whose generous monetary contributions/grants enabled us to start our respite program. Every Step of the Way Resource Center for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities NFP’s 2nd Annual ESW Walk It Out Walkathon for Disability Pride Month is 2 months away!! This year’s walkathon theme is… Dream Teams!! Build your dream team by celebrating the following: 1) a loved one with a disability 2) your business/job, organization, or lodge 3) a specific disability 4) your family or…. 5) a unique idea that supports ESW or celebrates disability pride. The team captain/ creator that raises the most money for their team will receive a trophy, a gift card, & dream team bragging rights!! Proceeds will help continue our free out-of-respite care program for intellectually disabled adults. Suggestion: Name your team after the cause you choose to celebrate above or create.
