Did you know that among all currently generic drugs, not a single company has ever added a new disease to the official label? Instead, pharmaceutical companies often modify the dose or formula to create a new drug product—one that can be patented and sold at a higher price. In many cases, they won’t pursue new disease applications at all, simply because it’s not profitable. Thankfully, doctors can prescribe medications off-label when they believe a drug could help a patient, even if it’s not officially approved for that disease.? But there’s a catch: they need strong data to support their decisions. And in the US healthcare system, there’s little incentive to generate that evidence—no financial push to conduct clinical trials proving that safe, generic drugs could work in new ways. That’s exactly where Every Cure comes in. By filling the gaps in research and clinical evidence, we ensure that doctors have the data they need to confidently prescribe repurposed drugs—giving more patients access to life-saving treatments that are already hiding in plain sight.
