Our crews are headed home after working seven days on rugged (and very beautiful) Virginia terrain to help restore Appalachian Power customers following the powerful impacts of Hurricane #Helene. We appreciated the opportunity to support—well done and safe travels, team! ??

?? Many of our crews in VA have had to climb poles the old-fashioned way to make repairs that can’t be reached by a bucket. Here they had to wade across a shallow river to get to a pole that needed work. After carrying equipment to the site, they pulled it up with a rope.

Here’s a bird’s eye view of our crews at work near Mendota, VA. Most of the work we’ve helped with has been on infrastructure that’s off-road. Crews encountered very rough and steep terrain while removing trees and climbing multiple poles to reattach conductors. In this case, the line goes up a mountain to feed a cell tower and a fire tower, so it was critical for many emergency and state services in the area.

Part of the massive team of ~7,000 workers supporting Appalachian Power following Hurricane #Helene, our crews are continuing challenging repairs to help rebuild the electric system in Virginia. With 81% of customers who lost power restored, they're making great progress! ??

Our crews have been busy in southwest VA helping Appalachian Power assess damage and restore power in the towns of Glade Spring, Meadow View, and Emory. A number of trouble spots weren't accessible via bucket trucks, so our crews broke out their climbing gear to make repairs.

From locations across CT, MA and NH yesterday, dozens of our crews headed off to Virginia to support the massive emergency power restoration effort following Hurricane #Helene. This year’s Connecticut River Conservancy #SourcetoSeaCleanup was a huge success! Our team picked up thousands of pieces of trash in CT, MA, and NH, preventing them from polluting our waterways and beautifying parks in our communities for our neighbors to enjoy.
