As part of our ongoing commitment to wildlife protection, Evergy recently donated four new aluminum peregrine falcon nesting boxes to the Missouri Department of Conservation. Crafted by Evergy’s welding team, these boxes will provide a safer, more durable nesting environment for these vulnerable raptors. ????? Peregrine falcons often build nests on high structures like skyscrapers and smokestacks. Without protected spaces, their nests can be exposed to harsh weather and predators. In the Kansas City region, existing wooden nesting boxes are beginning to deteriorate after years of exposure. The new aluminum replacements will offer a long-term solution, ensuring falcons have secure nesting sites. With nesting season approaching, these new boxes come at a crucial time. Falcons typically begin laying eggs in early spring, and these protected spaces will help support their population. ?? Evergy’s dedication to avian conservation extends beyond this effort. The company actively works to protect birds by installing avian-safe equipment on power lines, conducting environmental assessments, and partnering with wildlife organizations. Through these initiatives, Evergy continues to balance energy reliability with environmental responsibility. ???

“My dad said, ‘Our whole village doesn’t have this many toys.’” In honor of National Engineers Week, we’re excited to share an inspiring story of an Evergy employee. In 2016, Perlekar, staff engineer at Wolf Creek and associate professor at Wichita State University, was spending time with his father who was visiting the U.S. from India and his 2-year-old son. Perlekar had long considered starting a robotics school in his hometown in India and his father’s words prompted him to take action. Using his savings and borrowing from friends, he purchased and renovated a building and Tamtam’s Robotics School opened with about 250 students in June 2023. “The reason behind Tamtam Robotics is so children have access to technology,” Perlekar said. “My vision is to cultivate a classroom environment that is safe, comfortable, disciplined, challenging and engaging for our students.” Today there are more than 380 children attending Tamtam’s Robotics, primarily serving youth ages 4-14. Happy National Engineers Week!
