Happy World Water Day to all. Please enjoy these insightful thoughts from EverBlue Ventures Founder & CEO, Stuart Rudick.
This World Water Day highlights the reality of glacial melt. Glaciers, the "water towers of the world," are melting at an accelerated rate. While this phenomenon may feel alarming, it's part of Earth's natural cycles of fluctuations in weather and temperature—from droughts to floods, freezing to warming. So much attention has been given to the implications of warming, yet many regions are colder or wetter than normal. It's?what I call "global weirding". This story is as old as time, yet the severity and implications of these changes, demands our attention and action in this moment. Glaciers play a critical in all of life—they sustain freshwater supplies, regulate ecosystems, and mitigate natural disasters. Their melting retreat poses significant challenges: -Threatening water security for billions. -Accelerating sea-level rise and forcing coastal migration. -Disrupting global weather patterns. This creates extreme conditions—rising sea levels, intensified fires and weather extremes both hot and cold, wet and dry. Fortunately, humanity has proven its resilience, adapting to global weather shifts. With many experiences in our life, we see just the tip of the iceberg, only 10%. The majority beneath the surface is what we're missing and really counts. Glacial melting is one of nature’s way for restoring harmony and balance to our ecosystem. It’s our opportunity and responsibility to respond and adapt wisely. As our species name,?Homo sapiens, reminds us: we are?the wise ones. It’s our duty to be "Hydro sapiens",?water?wise, protecting the water and natural resources that sustain all life. This World Water Day, let's make every drop count. Together, we can navigate the rising tides and create a healthy and sustainable future for all to enjoy clean, safe drinking water. #WorldWaterDay #Sustainability #ClimateAction #WaterConservation
