This past Saturday, our leadership team had the privilege of attending the Spring 2025 TEPP Conference, and it was an incredible experience! We were honored to hear from the inspiring Joe Smarro, who delivered a powerful keynote speech about his personal mental health struggles and his mission to eradicate suicide and spread awareness about mental health. Joe's dedication to building up the San Antonio Police Department Mental Health Unit is truly commendable and left a lasting impact on all of us. A special congratulations to our VP of Compliance, Jim Rose, for winning first place in the clay shoot competition! ?? On Friday, February 28th, the Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation in San Antonio hosted the 8th Annual Foundation Clay Shoot. Our CEO, Eric Rose, attended the event, and Event Risk Security Services proudly took home a beautiful Texas Rangers Limited Edition .22 caliber rifle. We are honored to support public safety in our community and contribute to spreading peace of mind.

Têi Brown: A Legacy of Leadership, Service, and Black Excellence As we celebrate Black History Month at Event Risk Inc., we take pride in acknowledging the contributions, achievements, and resilience of Black professionals who continue to shape industries and inspire future generations. Among those making an impact is Têi Brown, a retired military veteran with over 22 years of active-duty service and multiple combat deployments, whose career encompasses law enforcement, military service, cybersecurity, private security, and entrepreneurship. His unwavering commitment to excellence, mentorship, and innovation has not only made him a leader in the field of security operations and risk management but also a champion for diversity, inclusion, and community empowerment. We asked Têi if he could share some of his knowledge and advice for Young Black Professionals, this was his response: Advice for Young Black Professionals: When asked about his journey, Têi emphasizes the importance of resilience, adaptability, and self-determination. "Opportunities don’t always come packaged perfectly—you have to create them, seize them, and prove that you belong. You don’t just earn a seat at the table; you build your own and bring others with you.” For Young Black professionals entering the security or cybersecurity industries, he advises: ? Stay disciplined and never stop learning. The industry evolves quickly, and knowledge is power. ? Build strong networks. Mentorship and connections open doors that might otherwise remain closed. ? Know your worth and demand excellence. As Black professionals, it’s essential to assert your value in spaces that may not always recognize it.
