EVelution Energy had the privilege of participating at the first annual DIBC | Defense Industrial Base Consortium symposium in San Diego this week. We congratulate the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment, the DoD Office for Industrial Base Policy and the Manufacturing, Capability Expansion, and Investment Prioritization Directorate (MCEIP) on their outstanding efforts in helping to rebuild and diversify America’s defense industrial base, and in particular, in helping to domesticate and derisk our critical mineral supply chain from potential adversaries. Evelution Energy is proud to be a part of this effort, building the first solar-powered cobalt processing facility in the U.S., in Yuma County, Arizona.

关于我们
EVelution Energy is building the first solar-powered, carbon-neutral, EV battery-grade cobalt processing facility in the United States. Our mission is to contribute to the transition to a net zero carbon future by providing carbon-neutral battery-grade materials to the new and burgeoning EV battery market in North America. Our solar powered cobalt processing facility is to be built on a strategically located property in Yuma County, Arizona, USA, which is located within a “Qualified Opportunity Zone.” This area is near the border with California, the most populous U.S. State with the most EVs. Solar power in this area is very abundant, as Yuma is the sunniest city in the United States, and a mega solar power array is planned to supply power to our carbon neutral facility, as well as to the surrounding community. The Facility will service the fast-growing EV Battery market in North America. This sector is undergoing a major transformation led by the U.S. car manufacturers, global industrial conglomerates, and the U.S. Federal Government, with billions of U.S. Dollars in investment. There is currently no battery-grade cobalt processing facility in the United States, as most of that capacity is presently located in China. EVelution Energy’s management team comprises C-suite level professionals who bring extensive experience in developing, operating, and financing non-ferrous metal processing facilities, as well as oil and grain terminals and other core infrastructure.

EVelution Energy co-founders, Navaid Alam and Gil Michel-Garcia, hosted a fundraiser in Phoenix for U.S. Representative Ruben Gallego, who is running to become the next Senator of the State of Arizona. We were very impressed by his charm and humility, and his genuine outreach to independent voters. We thank Rep. Gallego for his strong support of our efforts to build the first solar-powered cobalt processing facility in the U.S., in Yuma County, Arizona. With his invaluable assistance EVelution Energy is creating more than 3,000 new jobs and bringing more than $700 million in additional economic activity to the State of Arizona.

EVelution Energy’s Co-Founder and General Counsel, Gil Michel-Garcia, participated as a panelist at the Arizona Tech Council’s Clean Energy & E-Mobility Summit, an event highlighting Arizona’s future-forward industries including batteries, electric vehicle manufacturing, and renewable energy. Thanks to the leadership of AZ Governor Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Commerce Authority, Arizona has become one of the leading states in the U.S. in building a domestic EV supply chain. EVelution Energy is proud to be part of this growing ecosystem in Arizona.

Rare earth materials is a topic too important to not get behind! National Security issue!
Co-Founder and President of EVelution Energy , Navaid Alam, participated in a panel discussion at the Cobalt Institute Congress in New York where he spoke about Cobalt in the U.S. and our contributions to U.S. Critical Minerals Security of Supply, through the construction of the 1st solar powered cobalt processing facility in the U.S.; which facility when fully operational in 2027, will be able to supply 20%-40% of estimated U.S. cobalt demand. #criticalminerals #cobalt #energysecurity #energytransition #evelutionenergy Www.evelutionenergy.com

Great effort here by EVelution Energy! Getting domestic #criticalminerals & #cobalt processing up and running as fast as possible needs to be a #nationalsecurity priority for both #Congress & the #Administration. Thanks to the #Bipartisan #Infrastructure Bill and the #InflationReductionAct, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and United States Department of Defense now have authorized programs & funding to address this challenge. Now, we need focus and execution to make real progress. We also strongly support efforts by the House Appropriations Committee & the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations to increase funding for these efforts through DPA Title III, OSC, MESC, LPO, & Export-Import Bank of the United States’s CTEP & MMIA programs. While #permittingreform efforts continue, we need access to additional upstream #mining supplies from US allies—the U.S. Department of State, Us Department Of Commerce, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation & the US Trade Representative are playing an absolutely critical role here, but they need more flexibility and support. Thrilled to see the new effort by the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party considering #supplychain issues so seriously. Re-establishing domestic and allied processing is an essential step toward addressing both supplychain deficiencies & market manipulations plaguing US national interests in this sector. Great work guys!
EVelution Energy’s senior management was honoured to have been invited to the Pentagon to brief the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy on our plan to build the first solar powered cobalt processing facility in the US. When operational in 2027, our Arizona facility will be able to supply 20-40% of annual cobalt demand in the United States; thereby domesticating and substantially de-risking our cobalt supply chain from China.

General Motors is leading the way in circular transformation – and in the domestication and de-risking of our critical minerals supply chain from China. EVelution Energy is proud to be part of this effort, domestically producing the first carbon-neutral (solar-powered) IRA qualified EV battery grade cobalt sulfate in the United States (in Yuma County, AZ) for use by GM Posco at their groundbreaking CAM facility in Becancour, Quebec. #batteriesquebec #circularity #electric #batteries #evbatterymaterials #batterymaterials #energytransformation
General Motors is on a journey of circular transformation – aiming to increase resource circularity in our facilities and throughout the vehicle life cycle. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Lithion Technologies on a project to valorize process byproducts associated with our Ultium CAM facility in Bécancour, Québec. We are thankful to the Government of Quebec, the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, and PRIMA for their financial support. ? Cathode Active Materials (CAM) are a key electric vehicle battery component, and it’s GM’s goal to become the most responsible CAM producer globally. Enabling the recycling or reuse of battery material production byproducts help to keep critical minerals in our supply chain. #IWorkForGM #Electric #Battery Ma?té Blanchette Vézina P?le de recherche et d'innovation en matériaux avancés du Québec (PRIMA Québec) Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF)

Excellent article by Andrew Gulley in the Journal of Mineral Economics on the "Development of China's Monopoly over Cobalt Battery Materials". It is imperative that we do more to highlight and remedy our critical minerals processing dependency to China (particularly in Cobalt and Manganese). The US Government needs to redouble its efforts to domesticate and de-risk our critical minerals supply chain to protect the national and economic security interests of the United States. https://lnkd.in/geKMdEqH
