We welcome steps the European Commission has taken to monitor and promote the correct implementation of rules for expert groups that help inform its policies. At the same time, we have identified areas where transparency could be further improved and made suggestions. ?? 1? Publish internal guidelines to clarify what the public can expect from the implementation of expert group rules 2? In meeting minutes, include a list of documents that were not made public proactively to allow the public to request access 3? Set deadlines for the publication of expert group documents. 4? Improve the search functions for documents on the register of expert groups.

This measure would increase lobbying transparency and efficiency in dealing with access to documents requests.
