At the EEA, we believe that collaboration is key to sustainable digital transformation. As a member of the Digital Transformation Collaborative (DTC), we’re proud to support UNESCO in the creation of a Common Framework to improve collaboration in the digital transformation of education. The six pillar framework provides a common language to ensure the digital transformation in education is human-centered and sustainable. This week at the Summit of the Future, governments will adopt the Global Digital Compact with the goal to advance a better digital future for all. A human-centred, sustainable digital transformation of education is key to achieving this goal. Yet around the world, as major digital divides persist, digital technology is failing to promote greater equity and inclusion in education. To change this status quo, we need to work together to steer technology towards expanding access to quality lifelong learning for all. That is why UNESCO has come together alongside colleagues from UNICEF, International Telecommunication Union, Global Partnership for Education and the partners of the Digital Transformation Collaborative (DTC) of UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition to launch a Common Framework for a more sustainable, balanced and ethical digital transformation of education. We have worked with governments and experts to identify six pillars that are essential for holistic strategies for using technology to achieve their education system goals: 1.???Coordination and leadership 2.???Connectivity and infrastructure 3.???Cost and sustainability 4.???Capacity and culture 5.???Content and curriculum 6.???Data and evidence These six pillars are a tool to help us work together – across sectors and stakeholders — more effectively, openly and collaboratively. This approach is just the start! We will keep supporting countries in every region around the world with the digital transformation of education in a meaningful and comprehensive way – including putting the Common Framework into practice. Thank you to the governments and DTC partners who contributed to this collective and supported our launch event in New York today.
