In the face of whatever (extremely valid) anger, fear, and uncertainty you may be moving through, remember: there's an entire movement that has been and will continue working to protect expand abortion access, especially for those who face the greatest barriers to care. We believe that your ability to safely access accurate abortion information should never depend on who you are, where you live, or how much you earn.?That’s why—long before this election cycle—we started working on a new feature. We're so thrilled to finally share it, and we hope you'll help us spread the word. Euki’s Care Navigator is a new feature in the Euki app that connects users to information about abortion care providers and practical support options all in the same app they use to track their period. Now users can privately search, filter, and even save time-sensitive information for US-based abortion care providers and support options, including in-person care, telehealth clinics, and abortion funds. We source all this information from our partner ineedana.com’s vetted database. Abortion isn't going anywhere. And neither is Euki. Big news! By the end of this month, we plan to take the #EukiApp open source, which means we'll be making Euki’s code publicly available via an Open Source License. Our lawyers, board, and security advisors have all endorsed this plan, and we are so excited that Euki will become part of the open source community—a move that is very much in line with Euki’s values and approach to transparent technology development. There's a lot we can say about going open source, but the short version is that taking this step: ?? Will not?affect any user data.? ?? Will make Euki even more transparent to our users. ?? When the US Supreme Court released their Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization opinion in 2022, they ended federal protections for abortion, obliterating access for people across the country. Since then, abortion has been banned or restricted in 21 states, disproportionately harming Black people, Indigenous peoples, people of color, young people, LGBTQ+ folks, and other communities already facing higher levels of legal risk, surveillance, and extreme barriers to sexual and reproductive health care. At Euki, we believe that everyone should be able to exercise their right to bodily autonomy, and feel safe doing so. Today’s unanimous US Supreme Court opinion on the Food and Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine case upholds the FDA’s approval of mifepristone—a safe, effective, evidence-backed abortion medication. This means that mifepristone is still available across the US, and patients can still receive it by mail. We’re relieved by this ruling, but we know it isn’t a win. Despite an abundance of research showing that medication abortion—with mifepristone + misoprostol or misoprostol only, with the support of a medical provider or self-managed—is safe, attacks on abortion access continue to create barriers to care, especially for Black, Indigenous, AANHPI, Latine, and other communities of color, and LGBTQ+ folks. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: medication abortion is safe, and access to abortion in all its forms is a human right.
