???? Addressing Gender Inequality in Agriculture: A Key Focus of EU4Advice Despite progress, gender equality remains a significant challenge, particularly in agriculture and rural development. Women in these sectors continue to face inequalities that hinder their participation and empowerment. EU gender mainstreaming policies, especially under Horizon Europe, have emphasized the integration of gender dimensions into research and innovation. To support this, EU4Advice has developed a Gender Equality Plan, outlining guidelines for promoting equality and monitoring gender-related indicators. As part of our ongoing Gender Study, we have explored key topics: ?? Gender gaps in agriculture ?? The role of Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC) in women’s empowerment ?? Women’s involvement in rural advisory services These findings highlight the potential of SFSC as a space for female empowerment, but also the significant obstacles women face in a male-dominated, industrialized agrifood system. Our research will continue to focus on how advisory services and AKIS can better incorporate a gender-transformative perspective, offering women more opportunities to thrive in agriculture. ‘Cities leading food production’ partnership kicks off at VIV Asia 2025 On March 5th, Amped, Royal Jaarbeurs / VNU Europe and HubOrange! announced their strategic partnership focused on accelerating the development of robust, regional and regenerative food systems in cities and metropolitan areas worldwide, under the banner of ‘Cities Leading Food Production’. This collaboration establishes a learning ecosystem to empower communities and drive innovation in sustainable food production and distribution. Jeroen van Hooff, President & CEO of Royal Jaarbeurs / VNU Group comments: “Sustainable entrepreneurship is not about ticking a box. It is about thinking differently and taking action.
