EU-JAMRAI 2 participated in the recent Antibiotikaforum, a pivotal and annual Swedish event coordinated by the Public Health Agency of Sweden (Folkh?lsomyndigheten) and the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) to reduce antimicrobial resistance (#AMR). ?? This gathering brought together national stakeholders and experts who work with antimicrobial resistance to exchange experiences and stimulate dialogue between the sectors of human and animal health, food, and the environment. They discussed innovative strategies, shared best practices, and forged collaborations about one of the greatest public health challenges of our time. The involvement of EU-JAMRAI 2 members from the Public Health Agency of Sweden in the event underscores our commitment to fostering collaboration among all countries to work on AMR. ?? Bringing health education to life through theater! As part of the EU-JAMRAI 2 project, the Croatian Institute of Public Health organized a theater play titled "How Je?ko Beat the Common Cold" with students from Voltino Elementary School. This creative performance aimed to educate children on the importance of using antibiotics responsibly to reduce antimicrobial resistance (#AMR). ? On Thursday, November 21, they also hosted a symposium to celebrate the European Antibiotic Awareness Day and the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week. Organized in collaboration with the Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia and the Dr. Fran Mihaljevi? Clinic for Infectious Diseases, the event brought together leading experts to discuss the pressing issue of AMR in Croatia. That same day, as part of our community outreach efforts, they held a lecture at the Voltino Library for adults and seniors. The session emphasized the risks of antibiotic misuse and practical steps to protect public health. ? ?? If you are a pet owner, some things you can do to prevent AMR are: ??Feed your animal a good diet appropriate for its age, and maintain healthy hygiene conditions. ????Don't push your vet to prescribe antibiotics. They are professionals, trust them! ??Wash your hands after playing with your pet. ?Keep your household clean (especially if you live with someone with a compromised immune system). ??And don't forget that #AMR can be transmitted both ways.
