?? Claims Processing Fees: A Hidden Cost While claims processing fees might seem like a small expense, they will definitely add up significantly over time.? Some PBMs charge an additional fee for each prescription claim processed, regardless of the drug's cost or complexity. This means that even for routine prescriptions, you could be paying extra fees. How can this affect your healthcare costs? ?? Increased premiums: PBMs may pass these additional fees on to employers, leading to higher premiums for employees. ?? Reduced benefits: To offset the increased costs, employers may be forced to reduce other benefits or increase employee contributions. ?? Higher out-of-pocket costs: Patients may end up paying more out-of-pocket for their medications, even with insurance coverage. We really want you to be aware of claims processing fees and we challenge you to ask about detailed information about their pricing structure. Just because a total PBM administrative fee may seem lower than other PBMS, you can't blindly trust it. You need to look for these hidden, undisclosed, fees! By understanding these hidden costs, you can make more informed decisions about your healthcare plan and potentially save money.
Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) play a crucial role in setting drug pricing within healthcare plans. It's surprising that many plan sponsors are unaware of the significant impact PBMs have. Did you know that choosing a PBM that acts as a Fiduciary can benefit both the plan sponsor and participants? They prioritize setting drug prices in the best interest of the plan. Opting for a Non-Fiduciary PBM can lead to detrimental outcomes. Imagine compensating a CPA paid based on % of taxes paid or an Attorney compensated by the opposing party.
