After graduating as a valedictorian finalist at Notre Dame, I decided to drop everything and chase a dream. Here’s my story. Throughout my time in college, statistics about pornography use often struck me: - 91.5% of men watch pornography monthly (National Institute of Health). - 88% of mainstream scenes are violent (National Institute of Health). - Consumers are 2x more likely to experience a divorce (Archives of Sexual Behavior) My senior year, my friend Nadim Khouzam and I wanted to address this issue. Here was the idea: we'd launch a network of peer-led, in-person small groups to help college men find freedom through relationships and faith. There was already a similar program on campus for women, and we partnered with them. On August 23rd, 2023, I published my personal experience with pornography addiction in the Observer — Notre Dame’s school newspaper — as some guerrilla marketing for the program (attached below). I eagerly hoped for 10 signups. Within 2 weeks, we had 100. We had to stop advertising in order to handle the demand. Guys began to approach me from all corners of campus, thanking me, telling me that they were the “best they’ve been since middle school.” I was blown away. This year taught me an important lesson: Not only are men on college campuses dissatisfied with their relationship with pornography, they are hungry to do something about it. At ND, they had that chance. As I inched closer to my NYC finance career, I began to think… what about students at other schools? I couldn’t shake the thought. I couldn’t ignore the reality that 4% of the guys on Notre Dame’s campus participated practically overnight, or that we had an average habit improvement of 40% in our pilot year. I couldn’t resist the students in my inbox asking to set up a branch at their universities. Eventually, I stopped resisting. In May, I founded Ethos National as a 501(c)3. It’s not a side hustle — it’s my full-time mission. I’ll be devoting myself to scaling this program to every college in the US. We’re launching an app, a student leader training program, and a curriculum that will soon reach thousands of students. In order to make this happen, I'll need your help.
