According to Freedom United, one in five household products contains fibers harvested through forced labor. These statistics are shocking and highlight how entrenched forced labor is in our supply chains. Without federal intervention, that number would likely be even higher. PromoCares has launched its second annual #Water4Good campaign, with a goal of raising $200,000 for Planet Water Foundation to build water filtration systems in Mexico. So far, the promo industry has already raised more than $90,000!

Reposting this important message from Garment Worker Center ?? ? For the past three years, GWC and garment workers have been advocating with LA City Council to ensure protections for the garment industry are included in the Downtown LA 2040 Community Plan. Before we became involved, the plan proposed zoning and land use changes that would displace thousands of garment manufacturing jobs in LA's historic Fashion District. Alongside workers and allies, GWC proposed a series of recommendations to the plan that aimed to protect, preserve, and incentivize the garment industry! These recommendations were adopted into the plan last May of 2023. However, several report backs were ordered by council members to further analyze the plan which put our recommendations at risk. Our Councilmember, Kevin de Leon, has ignored LA garment workers and small businesses who have requested a meeting with his office on this issue for over a year now! We have learned the LA City PLUM (Planning and Land Use Management) Committee will be reviewing DTLA 2040 Community Plan report backs that have been on hold since last year this upcoming Tuesday, October 15th. Please help us urge PLUM and all City Council members to uphold the recommendations that were approved in May 2023!! We will be showing up with garment workers to ensure our advocacy for the past several years is honored! Wear red.
