?? How can we increase access to funding for #AffordableHousing and #SustaintableTransportation to reduce GHG emissions in California? As part of the lead technical assistance team for the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program, Estolano Advisors joined California Strategic Growth Council to present on the program’s goals and eligibility requirements at a workshop led by Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) and San Bernardino County Transportation Authority. The event included an AHSC 101 presentation, case studies from past awardees, and resources available in the #InlandEmpire to prepare future applicants for the upcoming funding round. The AHSC Draft Round 9 Guidelines are now available for review and the public comment period ends on December 11. We're expanding our Pacific Northwest Office!??Please help us welcome our two new staff members ??: Yemaya Hall-Ruiz, Director of Workforce Strategies, and Ellen (Mickle) Bini, Associate. We look forward to sustaining the strong relationships we've built in the region over the years with our new team members. Read more about Yemayá and Ellen's backgrounds below: YEMAYá: Yemayá comes to EA having most recently served as the Workforce Equity Lead for Espousal Strategies on the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program, a major bi-state infrastructure project that EA also worked on. Yemayá developed a comprehensive workforce equity plan and an outreach strategy for Oregon and Southwest Washington, designed to support historically underrepresented communities over the next 10 to 15 years. Prior to this, Yemayá worked with the City of Seattle’s Labor Equity team in the Finance and Administrative Department during the creation of the Priority Hire Ordinance. As a liaison between community members, labor unions, contractors, and City departments, she played a key role in ensuring that community voices were heard and that a Race and Social Justice framework was applied to Labor Equity initiatives. Yemayá's other work focuses on economic mobility and climate resiliency with farmers in Colombia, promoting agroecological practices using ancestral knowledge with new technology to support the economic mobility of the coffee region. Throughout her career, Yemayá has developed a range of key skills, including assembling and managing project teams, overseeing budget management and contract/program development at State and Federal levels, and driving strategic planning and program implementation for Public Works projects. She is also skilled at building strong relationships, conducting effective community outreach and engagement with internal and external stakeholders, focus groups, and interviews to gather insights and guide targeted audience strategies ELLEN: Ellen Bini is passionate about designing economic development strategies and urban plans that support climate resilience and other essential community needs. She specializes in data analysis and visualization, writing, and inclusive engagement of community members and stakeholders. Prior to joining EA, Ellen worked with Leland Consulting, where she supported and led on a range of projects in the urban planning, economic development, and real estate development realms for communities throughout the West and Midwest. It was Ellen’s experience advocating for just and equitable climate action policies at the local level and decade of experience working towards more just and sustainable food systems that drove her to pursue a career in planning. Ellen received a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University.
