WE ASKED A FOUNDER: What was your first difficult decision as a founder? 2021 Tory Burch Fellow and Estelle Colored GLass founder/CEO Stephanie Summerson Hall: The hardest business decision I’ve made was finally starting to say no to opportunities that took me away from prioritizing the business' current needs and focus. With limited time this was necessary so my attention could be placed on our current business priorities. I was supported by fellow entrepreneurs who understood my plight and encouraged me to never apologize for having to focus intensely on current issues or prioritizing the needs of the business at hand. They help me to see that future opportunities will present themselves. I learned to ultimately always do what is in the best interest of the business. That means saying no to opportunities that did not fit with the season I was in. I have been intentional by doing daily due diligence to assess what opportunities align with our goals, and which ones should be declined. I ask myself three questions: How does this benefit us? How does this benefit them? Is the timing right?
