Not a speed session, but a great conversation for the Auto Remarketing Podcast here at Used Car Week with Carvana’s Tony Hall (on site) and Shane McRann Bigelow of CHAMP Titles (via Zoom) about the present and future of e-titling. Both of those companies are founding members of the eSTART Coalition, a group of industry stakeholders working to modernize title and registration processes in every state.

Our mission is to save the auto industry AND consumers time and money by modernizing the title and registration process.
关于我们
Today, we can do almost everything online simply, securely, and seamlessly. Yet, title and registration processes still run on paper, resulting in raising costs, slowing down service, and limiting choices and convenience for consumers, who prefer simple online processes. Technology solutions are cost-effective, readily available, benefit everyone, and often only require minor changes in law and policy to be implemented. WHO WE ARE The eSTART Coalition is a group of aligned stakeholders – welcoming to government, industry partners, associations, and others – fostering a belief in the value of shared conversations about modernizing title and registration processes across every State. MISSION Our mission is to save the automotive industry AND consumers valuable time and money by modernizing the title and registration process. OBJECTIVES We aim to modernize three key components of vehicle transactions: ? Electronic signatures on title & registration documents ? Electronic title & registration submission & processing ? Electronic vehicle record transfers

Great to see Car Dealership Guy continue to highlight interstate title and registration complexities. Thanks for sharing your data, DLRdmv. We appreciate you being a founding member of the eSTART Coalition!
Online out-of-state car sales are *booming*. BUT – selling cars across state lines is hard… When you dive into the data, you’ll see why many car dealers are doing it. Top 10 car models sold out-of-state: 1. Ford F150 2. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 3. Toyota RAV4 4. RAM 1500 5. Toyota Camry 6. Toyota Tacoma 7. Toyota Highlander 8. Jeep Wrangler 9. Toyota Tundra 10. Toyota Corolla (Based on DLRdmv data from +90,000 vehicle transactions) Out-of-state car buyers are often either seeking a *very* specific vehicle and willing to pay top dollar for it, or simply looking for the best deal. With an average spend of $49,063, plus $2,234 on additional products, these high-value sales can make the extra effort worthwhile—even with challenges like titling.
