The challenge is knowing what moves the needle. e.g 8-figure SaaS platform, stuck because of: Zero top-tier media mentions No executive thought leadership Goals: Secure 3 tier-1 placements => guaranteed media approach Establish CEO as industry expert => bylined articles 2. Stop The PR Waste There are always inefficiencies. Look for recurring expenses with no outcomes. Cut the traditional retainer model immediately. e.g → $15k/mo PR agency spend No guaranteed results building relationships Turns out they've secured only 2 mentions in 6 months. Congrats - you have $15k to invest in guaranteed placements! 3. Align Leadership Expectations You're about to deliver 10x faster than industry standard. Everyone needs to understand the new approach. Now's the time to reset expectations. e.g. The marketing VP is skeptical he tried media placements last year, got burned by another agency, why would this time be different? 4. Create Your Authority Assets → Generic company boilerplate won't cut it. → You need compelling storylines. → They do NOT have to be product-focused. e.g. I developed 3 thought leadership angles myself Built media kit with industry-specific messaging 5. Implement Measurement Systems Do this while the assets are being finalized. My stack: Google Analytics, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, UTM tracking. Make sure PR coverage is trackable Use good KPIs beyond vanity metrics Web traffic from media placements" Sales pipeline influence from media mentions" 6. Secure First Top-Tier Placement Submit to publications as soon as humanly possible Make sure the placement actually drives traffic Hooray!! You're halfway there! e.g secured Forbes feature within 3 weeks Within days, 3 enterprise leads mentioned the article Credibility increases!! 7. Develop Thought Leadership Time to position executives Now you get some leverage e.g place bylined article in industry publication establish authority!! Leadership team now seen as experts!! 8. Amplify Both Victories Now you can maximize impact Sales team armed with credibility assets Social promotion for earned media e.g creating LinkedIn posts from the article, featuring in newsletters We can scale again!! hooray! That's it! If you can manage all that And fix the brand's visibility. You will have clients for life.
