    In 1995, Luxottica acquired LensCrafters and became the first manufacturer to directly enter the optical retail business. Having opened its doors in Florence, Kentucky in 1983, Lenscrafters transformed the optical industry with a revolutionary vision to provide customers with quality prescription eyeglasses in an hour; the first of many innovative concepts that led to its remarkable growth and success. The acquisition of Lenscrafters gave Luxottica the opportunity to build a trust-based relationship with consumers, to get to know them more deeply in order to efficiently meet their needs. #WeAreEssilorLuxottica #OurHistory

    What a fantastic time at 100% Optical! As proud sponsors of the Optical Academy, we had the pleasure of engaging with attendees both at our booth, showcasing our latest innovations and instruments, and through our educational sessions. A key highlight was the workshop led by Meena Puar, Global Medical Advisor - Medical Affairs, on improving varifocal performance through personalization to meet the evolving needs of presbyopes.     In 1995, Luxottica strengthened its already diverse portfolio with the acquisition of the iconic “Made in Italy” eyewear brand, Persol. Making its debut back in 1917, Persol, meaning “for sun”, identifies a timeless eyewear design, a culture of excellence and craftsmanship, and a perfect alchemy of aesthetics and technology. By the 50s and 60s, the brand’s models were being worn by global icons and famous actors, both on screen and in their everyday lives.
