Honoring Our Four-Legged Heroes on K9 Veterans Day Today, we pay tribute to the invaluable contributions of military working dogs (MWDs) who have bravely served alongside our troops. This date marks the establishment of the U.S. Army K9 Corps in 1942, recognizing the pivotal role these canines have played in our nation's defense. A Legacy of Service From detecting explosives to conducting search and rescue missions, MWDs have been instrumental in safeguarding lives and ensuring mission success. Their loyalty and dedication exemplify true heroism. New Jersey's Commitment to K9 Veterans In New Jersey, organizations like Operation K9 Beethoven are dedicated to supporting veterans by providing rescued, trained psychiatric service dogs at no cost. These service dogs assist veterans living with PTSD and other mental health challenges, highlighting the ongoing bond between service members and their canine companions. Congratulations to our 28th District Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker and her colleague Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson on passing Bill A3803 into law. We know this law will benefit those returning from military service eager to complete their college degree. Thank you both for your hard work and dedication to the communities you serve.
Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson and Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker's bill simplifying service members' return to college was just signed into law by Governor Murphy. A3803 requires public institution of higher ed to readmit students to the same academic status if their enrollment was interrupted due to military service.
