Essentia Health commends the Duluth City Council for passing a resolution in support of a new medical school in downtown Duluth, Minnesota. The University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus plays a vital role in training providers to practice in underserved rural communities, and a new campus in the Medical District would enhance the recruitment, retention, and education of these students and future clinicians. Essentia joins the university and the city in their commitment to building a world-class downtown Academic Health Sciences Center that will serve students, patients, our region and tribal communities for decades to come.

Essentia Health is thrilled to support Polar Cubs Childcare Center, the first licensed childcare center in Floodwood, Minnesota — and only center within 40 miles — in providing a critical solution to the childcare crisis facing the tight-knit rural community we're privileged to serve. With Floodwood facing a childcare deficit of 45 slots, Floodwood neighbor, mother of three, and Essentia RN Dani Larva rallied key community and regional stakeholders and worked tirelessly to turn a underutilized part of the Floodwood school into a 69-slot childcare center for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. #TogetherWeThrive Community Engagement: https://ow.ly/ANqK50SEGNq
