Erie West Town Health Center staff put on their engineering and collaboration hats this week, working in teams to build the tallest paper tower they could make in 10 minutes. While some teams were more successful, and some should maybe stick to medicine ??, everyone agreed this was a fun challenge that promoted teamwork, cooperation and an open mind. We started celebrating the 10th anniversary of Erie HealthReach Waukegan this past Monday when Nancy Bock, one of our board members, received a proclamation from the City of Waukegan. The #proclamation marks October 22nd as Erie HealthReach Waukegan Day to celebrate that we have been in Waukegan since 2014 and now provide primary healthcare services to more than 10,000 patients! Erie Family Health Centers’ Healthreach Waukegan Health Center and Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital celebrated 10 years of partnership, serving the Lake County area. Our two organizations have a long history of working together and are a testament to “let’s see what’s possible.” What began as Erie having access to the community but short on facilities and acute care resources and Northwestern having facilities and providers but limited direct access to the community has blossomed into a reciprocal partnership with high care quality standards spanning from Chicago to Lake County. I met Posh M. Charles in one of my first meetings when I joined Erie in 2019 to discuss an impact video for their community partners. I have been impressed with their commitment to connecting and bringing resources where they’re most needed. In a time when Lake County needed additional healthcare access, I’m glad their first call was to Erie. Kudos to Nancy Bock, Melissa Hilton, and the Erie development teams for an excellent lunch and panel.
