Highgate Library Decarbonisation Complete! ? We are very proud to share news of our successful completion of the Highgate Library decarbonisation project in Camden. This project marks another significant step in Camden Council’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030, as the second major public facility project of its kind that we have been entrusted with. Originally built in 1906, this iconic Grade II listed building has served the community for more than a century. Today, after an extensive retrofit program, the library is equipped to meet modern energy standards and drastically reduce its carbon footprint. Key upgrades that we have implemented included replacing old boilers with energy-efficient air source heat pumps, installing new insulation for walls and roof areas, replacement roof lights, upgrading the ventilation system and draught lobby, rewiring the building, and window replacements with secondary glazing upgrades. We have also installed a new energy control system and solar PV panels onto the roof, allowing the building to generate and manage its own clean energy. By replacing the fossil-fuel heating system with a low-carbon solution and making essential improvements to the building’s fabric and systems, Ergro have significantly enhanced the library’s efficiency, without having to alter the beautiful appearance of its iconic Edwardian fa?ade. We’re excited to be carrying out our comprehensive handover process with the Library teams, in time for the upcoming opening?ceremony. https://lnkd.in/ddv5WKWN Delivering quality engineering, smarter solutions. #CarbonReduction #Decarbonisation #NetZero?#Sustainability
