ORGANIZATION SPOTLIGHT!!!
The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) is one of our many societies here at Embry – Riddle that our students can be a part of. SASE was established in 2021 and has seen growth from 10 to over 50 members in its 3 years. Their mission statement is, “providing the Asian community at Embry-Riddle, Daytona Beach, the opportunity to network with career professionals, develop their leadership skills, and celebrate cultural diversity.” This society states that it, “aims to prepare Asian heritage scientists and engineers for success in the global business world.” SASE does this by hosting various workshops and events focused on professional development, social connections, fundraising, and volunteering.
The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers notes that it, “works towards celebrating diversity on campuses and in the workplace through many events such as attending the SASE National Convention and our very own Annual SASE Gala.” The organization prides itself in fostering an “open, enthusiastic, and supportive community, encouraging members to embrace a family lifestyle.” The organization also prides itself on its inclusive environment, welcoming those outside the Asian, Scientist, and Engineer demographic.
SASE is excited to share that, “This year, we are launching a mentorship program, where students who seek direction and guidance are able to connect with experienced mentors.” They also not about another new initiative, the Minority Majors Initiative, which, “focuses on empowering students from underrepresented majors, giving them a platform to network, share experiences, and access tailored resources specific to their majors.”
SASE is proud of its commitment to giving back to the community. They focus on organizing volunteer and community service initiatives within Embry-Riddle and the surrounding community. ?They also aim to start a K-12 Outreach program to motivate younger students exploring STEM. SASE also prides itself on its commitment to bringing its members closer together through casual and professional gatherings that offer connection and the opportunity to celebrate the diverse backgrounds and experiences of each member
The Student Government Association loves to spotlight organizations such as The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers who share their involvement and story here at Embry-Riddle, because we here at the SGA work to help these organizations provide many opportunities to help students branch out and get involved!
