We are excited to share that our client, Lori Tyack, the elected Clerk of Court for Franklin County Municipal Court in Columbus, Ohio, is featured in this month's NACM Podcast episode! Watch or listen by following the link in the post.
This month we will explore the tension between cities and municipal courts. We will also discuss how municipal courts can navigate these #challenges. The relationship between cities and their #municipalcourts is often marked by underlying tension. While courts must function independently, their close ties to city governments can create friction over revenue, resources, and oversight. Underfunded municipal courts frequently struggle with case backlogs, understaffing, and limited access to #justice. Judicial independence and the autonomy of other elected officials, such as the Clerk of Court, can also be at risk when city governments exert influence over judicial appointments, salaries, or case outcomes. This interference undermines the courts' ability to serve as impartial arbiters of the #law. Watch or listen to this episode today by visiting the NACM Podcast Webpage: https://lnkd.in/e2ZxttMq

Our next spotlight for #WomensHistoryMonth and #InternationalWomensDay is Denise Bell! Denise is the Chief Deputy Clerk at the Lake County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller in Florida. She works tirelessly to offer customers excellence, kindness, and compassion in all she does. She's also played an instrumental role in modernizing the office. When Denise started at the Clerk’s Office, they used index cards to maintain party indexes. They even tracked statistics on a clipboard, using tick marks to capture activities performed. Today, they are “paperless” and can collect and share vast amounts of information with justice partners because of the electronic environment in which they live. Thank you for your dedication and public service, Denise!
