?? On this day in 2009, Dr. Robert L. Satcher Jr. became one of only FIVE Black astronauts to ever perform a spacewalk. ??? Picture this: floating 250 miles above Earth, with a job to perform in the vacuum of space with nothing but your training, bravery, and some next-level gear keeping you alive. That’s what Satcher did during this five-hour, 42-minute spacewalk as part of the STS-129 mission. He worked on the International Space Station, prepping it for future missions—a true masterclass in skill and courage. ????????? Spacewalks aren’t just about the view—they’re a testament to the precision, talent, and fearlessness needed to expand human presence in the cosmos.
