We are excited to come together with so many in our community this week at LEDucation. However, with everything happening in the world this year, it’s a complex time. Equity in Lighting encourages you to stop by the NACLIQ booth (PF11) to pick up an "I Support Diversity, Equity & Inclusion" sticker for your badge—because fostering an inclusive and welcoming industry requires action. Without visible support from all of us, we risk allowing division and exclusion to take hold. Equity in Lighting, recently teamed up with the Asian Lighting Community and WILD’s DEIR team to put forward a second round Lighting Design Industry Census. The purpose of this survey is to provide a rich portrait of the lighting design community through data collection and analysis of the personal, social, and economic characteristics of our group. To better equitably serve our community, we must first get to know our community – who are we, how does our group compare with others, and how has it changed over time. This survey is an attempt to create transparency to enrich our understanding of the industry and the people who contribute to it. The survey is open from August 23rd to September 23rd, 2024. Please see the following link https://lnkd.in/eQ-hczV5 to fill out the survey.

Join us for Equity in Lighting & BUILD (Black United in Lighting & Design)'s first joint event as we are granted access to a private tour of The Harlem Renaissance & Transatlantic Modernism exhibit on July 2nd, 2024, at noon at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. We will be joined by Met Lighting Designer Jourdan Ferguson as well as Tiara Brown, Research Assistant for the exhibit. Spend your lunch hour soaking up art and stories from one of the most significant artistic and cultural movements in American history, all while gleaning knowledge about what makes great museum lighting design and getting a peek behind the curtain to see how lighting brings special exhibits like this one to life! Thank you to our wonderful sponsors, Bartco Lighting, Barbican, and ELA + Synergy, for sponsoring our event. A huge thank you to our Director of Industry Programs, Austin Young, for helping organize such an amazing program.
