We’re excited to attend the American Heart Association 2024 Scientific Sessions November 15th-17th at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois! As a part of our collaboration with AHA, Equity Commons will be facilitating an immersive Virtual Reality experience for 100 AHA Scholars. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a VR module highlighting patient experiences of bias, reflect on their observations during the module, and participate in both small group and full group discussions about the VR experience. We’re proud to be collaborating with the American Heart Association in the professional development experience for AHA scholars and commend their dedication to the advancement of health equity! #EquityInHealthcare #AHA24 #TheAHALife

Happy Election Day! Enjoy this clip from NBC News covering Allie Young’s Ride to the Polls campaign, which was organized in 2020 to register new voters in person and online. Voting accessibility is a barrier many people encounter when registering to vote and casting ballots. Indigenous voters particularly may struggle with transportation due to the fact that it can take up to an hour to drive to the polling stations, Young states. Many people in the Navajo Nation, known as Diné, use post office boxes so a lack of residential addresses is another barrier when attempting to register and cast their vote.
