Since we recently celebrated Corporate Compliance and Ethics week, we thought it was appropriate to feature our very own AVP of Compliance, Alex Holloman III for this month’s Employee Spotlight. A Love of Compliance Alex began his career on the sales side of the insurance industry where he stayed for about 15 years. Along the way, a regulatory change in the industry provided him an opportunity to shift into compliance and he’s enjoyed it ever since. Alex says he loves being in a position to help his company solve problems by implementing the right solutions while adhering to the regulatory and business requirements. Impactful Milestones Alex says he is extremely proud in the company’s ability to automate a portion of their annuity suitability review process. This collaboration between departments supported and aligned with Alex’s vision — leading to a great deal of success throughout the company. Additionally, Alex says he is also fortunate to be a part of the strategic and tactical discussions that involve the future of EquiTrust. Opportunities for Growth Alex has had an outstanding opportunity to learn and grow within his AVP of Compliance role. EquiTrust invested in him and put him through a leadership development program to improve his collaborative communication and strategic implementation skills. Furthermore, working on diverse projects and tasks has given Alex valuable experiences and exposed him to different aspects of risk management for insurance. Giving Back to His Community Outside of the office, Alex enjoys giving back to his community. As a typical “Y” kid, Alex spent many days after school hanging out at his local YMCA. As he grew, it continued to be an integral part of his own family as his kids were growing up for swimming, sports, and the teens club. This inspired Alex to become a Board Member of the Forsyth YMCA and, through this endeavor, Alex has positioned himself to be an integral part of this community hub. His YMCA offers outreach and leadership programs, water safety training, a summer camp for kids, and food support for those in need during the holidays. ? One of Alex’s favorite moments was about a family of 5 kids who used the YMCA summer camp as a way to spend time with their siblings during the week. This was incredibly impactful because the kids were normally in foster care and resided at different homes, preventing them from spending quality time together due the current living situation. The YMCA camp afforded them the opportunity to not only build strong bonds, but to create lasting memories. Alex thank you for your impactful approach to compliance and your unwavering loyalty to EquiTrust. Your dedication and passion are key to our company’s success. During this time of year, EquiTrust always seeks to give back to our communities as corporate citizenship is one of the key values on which our company was built. ? Recently, our West Des Moines employees once again partnered with MEALS FROM THE HEARTLAND and joined their 17th Annual Hunger fight — their biggest event of the year aiming to recruit 4,000 volunteers to package 2 million meals! This outstanding organization provides pre-packaged meals to victims of catastrophic storms, fires, pandemics, and even war. For two days, our employees volunteered and packaged hundreds of meals to ship around the world to help eradicate hunger. ? Furthermore, our Chicago employees rolled up their sleeves and joined the fight against hunger with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This incredible organization serves as Chicago’s food bank, working tirelessly to fight hunger throughout Cook County by providing food for individuals and families in need. Each year, they distribute millions of meals and collaborate with local partners to ensure no one goes hungry. Our employees worked tirelessly to repack donated food and prepare it for distribution all around the city. ? We are so proud and thankful of our employees who donated their time and energy for such great causes. We recognize that it’s not only a chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others but also a great way to connect with fellow colleagues while making a difference. In this month’s Employee Spotlight, we’re proud to feature Tina Pritchett, one of our Senior Compliance Analysts at EquiTrust. Since joining EquiTrust at the beginning in 2003, Tina has moved and grown through the company as a Customer Service Rep, Mail Supervisor, Records and Quality Control, and finally landing in the Legal and Compliance Department. A Long History of Excellence and Growth Tina previously worked at FBL and moved to the EquiTrust division in Oct 2003. At that time, EquiTrust was only 12 employees — often requiring people to take on multiple roles to get the job done. Fast forward to the present and EquiTrust has grown to nearly 500 now. Despite the rapid growth, Tina says she still tries to introduce herself when she sees people she doesn’t know. Jill of all Trades Tina’s tenure has touched a lot of different departments from within the company from Customer Service, Mail, Quality Control, and finally Legal and Compliance. While moving through the company, her roles have expanded to managing forms, processing suitability reviews, and eventually learning product filing. Tina has been the product filer for the past number of years, most recently being involved in the launch of our Bridge Indexed Annuity, the company’s reintroduction into the Life Insurance space, and developing a more robust advertising filing program. Additionally, she enjoys being part of EquiTrust Cares, the company’s employee engagement and philanthropic group. Opportunities for Growth Tina has had the opportunity to pursue continuing educational opportunities through the company-sponsored Life Office Management Association (LOMA) courses. She says these courses helped her in obtaining her insurance license and the continuing educational requirements around that. Furthermore, she is thankful to have been given the opportunity to learn product filings and jumped at the opportunity. Now, she leads filing efforts — allowing her to participate in many aspects of the company such as daily scrums, print testing and product launches. Setting an Example Outside of the Office Outside of EquiTrust, Tina is a member of the Executive Committee for the Life and Health Compliance Association (LHCA). The organization meets bi-monthly and mainly works with compliance peers from other companies to discuss best practices, implementations, and compliance issues as a way of seeing what peers are doing to gauge what is working and what is not. The group meets bi-monthly, hosts conferences, virtual meetings, and in-person meetings around the U.S. This fall Tina will speak to the group about Print Implementation — one of her core functions at EquiTrust. Tina thank you for your valuable contributions and astonishing loyalty to EquiTrust. Your dedication and passion is one of the reasons our company is so successful.
